I Am a Ghost Plot

I Am a Ghost is a 2012 South Korean supernatural horror film directed by H.P. Mendoza and released by Gravitas Ventures. The film stars Anna Ishida as Emily, a troubled spirit who haunts her own house every day, wondering why she can’t leave. 

With the help of Sylvia (Jeannie Barroga), a clairvoyant hired to rid the house of spirits, Emily is forced into a ‘patient/therapist relationship, discovering disturbing mysteries about her past that may help her move on.

If you’re watching the film, it begins with Emily driving home from work when she is involved in a car accident. The accident is shown in slow motion, and So-hee dies. 

After her death, Emily becomes a ghost. She can see and interact with the living, but they cannot see or hear her. She is also trapped in her own house, unable to move on to the afterlife.

Sylvia is hired to rid the house of spirits. Because she can see and communicate with Emily, she begins to help her uncover the mysteries of her past.

During this process, Emily learns that she was murdered and that her killer is still out there. She also learns that she has a twin sister, who is also a ghost.

So Emily and her sister had to work together to try to find their killer and move on to the afterlife. However, they soon realize that they are not the only ghosts in the house. There is a dark force at work, and it is determined to keep them trapped.

Ending

The ending of I Am a Ghost is ambiguous. Emily and her sister seem to have found some measure of peace, but we don’t know whether they have actually moved on to the afterlife. The film ends with Emily and her sister walking through a field of flowers, and then the screen goes black.

The ambiguity of the ending is one of the things that makes I Am a Ghost a thought-provoking film. You will be left with a lot to think about, and also decide what to believe happened to Emily and her sister.

In the final scene of the film, Emily and her sister are walking through a field of flowers. They are both smiling, and I think they are at peace. However, it’s not really clear whether they have actually moved on to the afterlife, or if they are still trapped in the world of the living.

The film’s ending could have different possible explanations for what happened. One possibility is that Emily and her sister have finally found peace and are able to move on. They have accepted their deaths, and they are now free to move on to the next stage of their journey.
